Pocatello, ID --- As a part of Pocatello's PaintFest, where volunteer groups paint houses for the elderly, Idaho State athletics, as part of the P.A.W.S. program (Proud Athletes Working and Serving), will paint a house in Pocatello this week, starting on Monday, July 23.
The student-athletes will paint the house at 121 S. 16th Avenue in Pocatello throughout the week. On Monday and Tuesday, two teams of student-athletes will paint from noon to 4 pm. On Wednesday, another team of consisting of football and track will paint from 7:00 pm until around 9 or 10 pm, and on Thursday, the student-athletes will complete to job starting at 8:00 am.
Each of the four captains for the football team, George Yarno, Dan Zeidman, Terrence Calloway, and Ryan Phipps, have put together a team for PaintFest, and in all 28 student-athletes from the football and track teams will be participating.
PaintFest marks the beginning of the third year of the P.A.W.S program, which has logged over 1,900 community service hours for Pocatello, Chubbuck, and Southeast Idaho over each of the past two academic years. P.A.W.S was founded in 2005 by Director of Athletics Paul A. Bubb as part of ISU athletics' initiative to give back to the community.
