Denver, CO - Idaho State University Assistant Sports Information Director Jason Erickson has been named Associate Director of Media Relations for the Western Athletic Conference, announced WAC Commissioner Karl Benson. Erickson had been with Idaho State since September 2003.

Erickson will handle media relations duties for the WAC in women's basketball, baseball, gymnastics and cross country. He will join the WAC staff on September 27 after four years at Idaho State University where he was the assistant director of media relations for women's basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, tennis and track & field.

"This is one of those hate-so-see-him-leave, happy-for-him kind of deals," said Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Frank Mercogliano. "Jason stepped into the full-time position after being an intern for only three months, and he just did an outstanding job, especially in light of all the successes that some of his teams have had, such as women's basketball and soccer and track. He will be missed, but the WAC is getting a great addition."

Jason is a 2002 graduate of Southern Utah University where he earned a degree in communications. Erickson earned his master's degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in athletic administration at Idaho State in 2006.
