Pocatello, ID --- Four Bengal greats, Trevor Bell, Angela Roberts, Lincoln Yamashita, and Mick Mickelson, will be inducted into the ISU Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 17 when the Bengals take on Northern Colorado in football in their annual Hall of Fame game. Along with those four, Jared Allen will also be admitted to the Hall of Fame, but he will be inducted in separate ceremony on November 6 and then at halftime of the ISU-Montana football game on November 7. The five inductees will bring the total in the Hall of 211.

The 2009 class will be inducted at the Hall of Fame Luncheon at the ISU Sports & Orthopaedic Center on Saturday October 17 at 1:30 pm, and then introduced at halftime of ISU's game vs. Northern Colorado, which kicks off at 3:35 pm. The ISU Hall of Fame is located in the ISU Sports & Orthopaedic Center, adjacent to Holt Arena. The Magnuson Alumni House will serve as the host site for a reception at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 16.

While Bell, Roberts, Yamashita, and Mickelson will be inducted on the weekend of October 16-17, Jared Allen will be inducted on the weekend of November 6-7, when his Minnesota Vikings have their bye-week. Allen is the only football player in ISU history to win national player of the year award.

In order to be eligible for selection to the Hall, a candidate must have attended Idaho State for at least one year and excelled in at least one intercollegiate sport. Preference is given to those who have been out of school for at least 10 years. Voting is restricted to Hall of Fame members who are on the Selection Committee.

The following is information on the five inductees:

Jared Allen, Football (2000-03): Allen was a three-time First Team All-Big Sky selection, a two-time All-American, and the 2003 Buck Buchanan Award winner as the I-AA Defensive Player of the Year. Allen was the defensive rock the saw ISU win 26 games in his four seasons, including the only back-to-back eight win seasons in school history. Allen owns the ISU and Big Sky records for career sacks, and he led the NCAA in sacks and forced fumbles as a senior. He clinched his Buchanan Award with a memorable performance against Cal Poly in which he scored a pair of touchdowns to lead ISU to a win over the nationally ranked Mustangs. For his career, Jared finished with 250 tackles, 38 ½ sacks, 73 stops for losses, seven fumble recoveries, three touchdowns, 13 forced fumbles, three interceptions, 26 pass deflections, and one blocked kick. He is currently in his sixth season in the NFL, and is a two-time All-Pro and has twice been selected to the Pro Bowl.

Trevor Bell, Football (1995-97): Bell played at Idaho State for three seasons, earning First Team All-America honors as a defensive back and return specialist. Trevor's 17 career interceptions, which came in just 24 starts at safety, is still the ISU record and tied for seventh in Big Sky Conference history. In 1997, he pulled off the rare feat of earning First team All-Big Sky honors at two separate positions, defensive back and punt returner, and was named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American in 1997. He also won a Bennion Award in 1997 as the team Most Valuable Player. He also was named to the 1997 American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, and he was a recipient of a $10,000 Burger King College Football Scholarship.

Angela Roberts, Volleyball (1993-94): Roberts becomes the fourth member of the 1994 volleyball team that advanced to the National Invitational Volleyball Tournament to earn induction in the Hall. Roberts is a two-time Bennion winner as team MVP, and in 1994, she led ISU into the national postseason, earning First Team All-Big Sky honors, Second Team AVCA All-Northwest Region honors. She was also named to the NIVC All-Tournament Team. She still ranks third on the career list for kills per game, and her 476 kills in 1994 still ranks as the third-best total in school history. Her 33 kills vs. Eastern Washington also ranks third in school history.

Lincoln Yamashita, Swimming (1963-66): Was a member of Idaho State's swimming team for four years, one of only two student-athletes to letter at ISU for all four years. Lincoln finished his career with five Big Sky titles, including setting a Big Sky record in the 100-yard breastroke in 1966, and event he won three times. Lincoln also was a part of two straight 400-yard medley relay Big Sky titles as well, including a league record time in the 1965 Big Sky Championships. Since leaving Idaho State, Lincoln has become ISU Athletics' ambassador in the Hawaiian Islands, hosting receptions whenever ISU teams travel to the islands for contests. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army after graduation from ISU, and he spent 33 years as a secondary teacher in Hawaii, and he also was in the Hawaii National guard for 22 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Mick Mickelsen, Lifetime Achievement Award: Mickelsen is being honored in the Lifetime Achievement Category, and he is the seventh recipient of the award. Mickelsen served for almost 20 years as the team physician for Idaho State athletics, helping in the medical care of literally thousands of Bengal athletes. Mickelsen was a driving force in the ISU Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, which houses a complete medical facility and ISU's strength and conditioning center. In recent years, Mickelsen has chaired the Bengal Village Capital Campaign committee, raising funds for ISU athletics.
