ISU Athletic Department Assists Graduate Student with Survey Sent to Football Fans

Football fans to receive survey

Nov. 15, 2006

Pocatello, ID--The Idaho State University athletic department is assisting an ISU graduate student in a survey of football fans to determine why fans attend games and what factors may contribute to increased attendance in the future. A similar survey is also expected to be conducted during the men's and women's basketball seasons this year.

"A graduate student proposed the survey this past summer and we believed it could have some beneficial information to assist us in further making our home football games more of an event," said ISU Athletic Director Paul Bubb. "We used a web survey two years ago and found it beneficial and believe the information from this year's survey will also be able to help us in the future."

The survey will cover a variety of topics in an attempt to identify the motivating factors of fans to purchase season tickets and attend athletic events.

"We hope to determine what `fan loyalty' factors are and how to better capture that loyalty to develop and even greater fan base," Bubb added. "With men's basketball returning to Holt Arena this year, I see a similar survey being used to help us improve that experience as well."

Season ticket holders were mailed the survey this week and non-season ticket holders will be polled at the final home game.
