Assistant Coach

Geoff Alexander enters his second season as an assistant coach with Idaho State University. A former player at Southeast Iowa Community College, Alexander came to ISU after serving as an assistant for the previous three seasons at highly successful Daytona Beach Community College.

In his first year, Alexander worked with Idaho State's post players, and his coaching enabled Nick Rhodes to go from 13 total rebounds in the 2005-06 season to leading the Bengals in rebounding with a 7.0 average, including an astounding 19 against Portland State.

He spent the previous three seasons prior to ISU at Daytona Beach Community College, where he helped the Falcons to a three-year mark of 70-24, including a 25-5 mark in the 2005-06 season. At DBCC, the Falcons also won three consecutive Mid-Florida Conference Championships. Prior to coming to DBCC, Geoff spent one year as assistant coach at Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas. During his stint at Jacksonville College, the team finished 17-13 overall and tied for second place in Region 14. He also served as the graduate assistant at Western Illinois University for the Division I Leathernecks during the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons.

Alexander began his collegiate career as a guard at Southeastern Community College where he played under O'Brien before transferring to Western Illinois University where he played is final two years. He received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Western Illinois University in 2000 and also received his master's degree from WIU in physical education in 2002.

Geoff was married in 2006 to his wife Kiersten.
