Nov. 11, 2009
Pocatello, ID --- Idaho State University head men's basketball coach Joe O'Brien has announced the signing of high school guard Andre' Hatchett to a national letter-of-intent for the 2010-11 season, making him the first member of what will eventually be a very large recruiting class, as ISU has seven seniors on the active roster. Hatchett,a 6-4, 185 pound guard, is entering his senior season at Santa Rita High school in Tucson, Arizona. Last season, he averaged 15.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game as Santa Rita went 22-8. He was named First Team All-Gila Conference and first Team All-Southern Arizona, and he was an Honorable Mention All-State pick as well. Hatchett's team is preseason ranked #2 in the state of Arizona, through all classifications. His father Tim is the all-time leading scorer at the University of South Dakota. "Andre' is a good fit for us with his size and ability," said Joe O'Brien. "He can defend, and he will be a tough matchup on the wing for some teams. He comes from a good basketball family, and he was being recruited by some very good Division I teams, and some Big Sky Conference teams as well, so I'm very happy we were able to sign Andre' early." |
