Lettered in football for three years at Helix Charter High School, as well as track for three ... helped his team to a pair of state championships in 2001 and 2002, and runner-up finish in 2003 ... was named Helix's team MVP and was a Second Team All-CIF pick after rushing for 1,530 yards and 11 touchdowns on 249 carries ... was also a Second Team All-San Diego Union Tribune pick ... also earned a First Team All-CIF selection as a wide receiver in his career as well ... served as a team captain.
