June 14, 2007 Amsterdam -- Hello again to all who just love to hear what I have to say. Unfortunately this weekend was another rough one, losing 31-13 to the Cologne Centurions. How frustrating it is to lose to a Centurion, but then again I think it is always frustrating to lose no matter who you lose to. Just a little FYI for you, a Centurion is defined by dictionary.com as "(in the ancient Roman army) the commander of a century." The other meaning on the website was "any one of various British battle tanks in service from 1945 to 1967." I bet you are wondering what they define an Admiral as "The commander in chief of a fleet," I know, very insightful right? Again, I am going to go with the second meaning for this one, which is completely different from the first one. "Any of various brightly colored butterflies of the genera Limenitis and Vanessa." Now to get to my point, the game we Admirals "(Any of various brightly colored butterflies of the genera Limenitis and Vanessa)" played on Saturday against The Centurions ''(any one of various British battle tanks in service from 1945 to 1967) played out as one would think. A shootout until the halfway point of the third quarter and then the colorful butterflies were nowhere to be found. We started with a heavy attack by drilling a 49 yard field goal with 13 seconds left in the first quarter. We went up 10-0 halfway through the second quarter with a punt-return for a touchdown by Internationally known wide-reciever/punt-returner Noriaki Kinoshtia. The British battle tanks came back very angry scoring twice and going into half-time leading the brightly colored butterflies 14-10. As this one played out, we would manage only three more points on a 40-yard field goal the rest of the game. We lost 31-13 and our record dropped to 3-6. This Friday we will host the Berlin Thunder in Amsterdam's Olympic Stadium before we head back to the States on Sunday. The Thunder, "a loud, explosive, resounding noise produced by the explosive expansion of air heated by a lightning discharge," come into the NFL Europa season finale 2-7. We look to steal their "thunder" and improve our record to 4-6. I know what you are thinking, that I really need to stay out of the darn coffeeshops and to be honest I really haven't even been to one. Soon enough, I will be back in the States and back to reality. Note Jaret's final diary will be next week after his final game. Jaret is 18-for-19 on extra points, and he is 7-for-8 on field goals, and his 39 points is fourth-best among kickers in the league. His long for the year is 49 yards, and he has made five straight field goals, four from beyond 40 yards. Next week we will have some pictures of Jaret to go along with his diary. |
