Schedule/Results | Roster | News | Archives Thompson, Clark Earn Preseason All-Conference Honors
July 21, 2008
Park City, UT --- Idaho State All-America wide receiver Eddie Thompson, a First Team All-Conference pick a year ago, was named to the Preseason All-Big Sky Conference team that was announced at the Big Sky Football Media Days in Park City, Utah. Joining Eddie on the team from Idaho State was cornerback D.J. Clark. Weber State, Montana, and Eastern Washington led the way with four each. Weber State technically had five slots, as Bryant Eteuati was selected both at kick returner and at wide receiver with Thompson. Thompson last season had 83 catches for 907 yards, and he scored eight touchdowns, including one rushing and one on a punt return. He even started a game at quarterback last season. Clark, also a senior, led the Bengals in interceptions for the third straight season, picking off four and returning two for touchdowns. Clark has an outside chance to become Idaho State's all-time interception leader if he can pick off seven. He enters the season with 10 career picks. For Thompson, he is poised to break several career receiving records. He has 149 career catches for 1,646 yards, and he needs 49 catches to surpass Sale' Key's total of 187 catches, and he needs 1,031 yards to break Ed Bell's record of 2,676 which has stood for nearly 40 years. Interestingly, Thompson and Key are both from Sacramento, California. The complete preseason all-conference team is available at the all-new www.bigskyconf.com |
