Game Notes: Idaho State at Sacramento State
Pocatello, ID --- Well, it only took five weeks, but Idaho State gets to face a non-BCS and non-ranked team this week, but one coming off a nice road win, as Idaho State travels to face off with the Sacramento State Hornets at 3:05 pm Mountain Time at Hornet Stadium. The Bengals are coming into the game at 0-5, and 0-2 in the Big Sky, while the Hornets are 1-3 after getting their first win of the season, going to Portland and winning 31-14, their second straight win over the Vikings. Last season, the Hornets had entered Holt Arena on a three-game winning streak, and ISU had lost 15 straight, but the Bengals prevailed 36-33 in overtime. ISU however has lost their first five in 2009 after that win, but they have played a killer schedule with four ranked teams in a row, and then Arizona State to start the season off. ISU will enter the Sacramento State game with mounting health issues as quarterback Kyle Blum is iffy with the lingering effects of a concussion. ISU also has lost starting defensive end Jake Rouser to an ACL injury, and JD Ponciano is also questionable with an upper body injury. The game will be available on The Bengal Radio Network, which is flagshipped at ESPN Radio 930 AM KSEI in Pocatello and KRXK 1230 AM in Idaho Falls. The Bengal Radio Network also contains stations in Idaho Falls (KGTM 98.1 FM) and Twin Falls (KTFI AM 1270 AM), with Jerry Miller and Brad Bugger bringing all the action. The game will also be available on www.bigskytv.org, and it takes literally minutes to register for the free online feed. NOTES: ISU's last win in Sacramento was a 27-17 win in 2005 with Luke Sniewski starting that game at quarterback for Matt Hagler ... ISU had a statistical change on Saturday's game with Eastern Washington, as a second quarter fumble that was originally ruled as a forced fumble for Dustin Tew was changed to Rustin Phillips. |
