Jayson Bird's Season Over with Torn ACL

Jayson Bird

Oct. 17, 2008

Pocatello, ID --- Jayson Bird, a graduate student and fullback on the Idaho State football team, has been lost for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, effectively ending his collegiate career.

Bird, who came to Idaho State after playing three seasons and graduating from the University of Idaho, was third on the team in rushing with 71 yards on 20 carries. Jayson played on almost all of ISU's special teams, and served as a fullback as well, mostly as a lead blocker for starting running back Ken Cornist.

Bird missed parts of every season at Idaho with a variety injuries, and he is the latest Bengal to go down with an ACL tear, joining fellow senior Josh Crittenden, and snapper Chris Kirkegaard.

The Bengals host #17 Northern Arizona on Saturday night at 6:35 pm at Holt Arena for Homecoming.
