Bengals Hold 11th place in Cougar Classic

Provo, UT--Idaho State men's golf holds 11th place with a two-round score of 583 (+7) at the BYU PING Cougar Classic at the Riverside Country Club. The Bengals held 9th place after the first round with a score of 288 (E).

Junior's Kyle Prolo and Mark Cowman lead the Bengals with a tie for 21st place. Flip-flopping scores, Prolo shot a first round score of 72 and a second round score of 71 for a two round score of 143, one under par while Cowman shot a 71 first round score and a 72 second round score.

Dylan Meyer, a junior, shot an excellent first round score of 71 (-1) but had a difficult time in the second round when he scored a 75, three over par for a two-round score of 146 (+2) to tie for 39th place. Freshman Nick Morrison shot a first round score of 74 (+2) and a second round score of 77 (+5). Morrison tied for 67th place with his two-round score of 151 (+7). Steve Peters shot a 76 (+5) in the first round and an 82 (+10) in the second round to hold 78th place with a two-round score of 158 (+14).

New Mexico State University holds first place with a two-round score of 559 (-17). Washington State's Nick Ellis shot an impressive first round of 69 (-3) and improved his second round by two strokes to shoot a score of 67 (-5) for a two-round score of 136 (-8) to lead the tournament.

The Bengals continue play with their final 18 holes of the tournament on Saturday at 8 a.m. in the last sanctioned varsity men's golf tournament for Idaho State.
