Oct. 25, 2006 San Jose, Calif-- Idaho State's Kyle Prolo missed a top 20 finish in the Santa Clara Invitational by only one stroke. Kyle scored a total of 223 stokes over three rounds just one stroke too many to finish in a tie for 20th place. The weather played a part in the results of the Santa Clara Invitational. Fog covered the course for much of the mornings on both days of the tournament. The fog plus difficult pin placements added up to create higher than normal scores for the participants. After two rounds of play ISU held onto 15th place leading CSU-Northridge and Birmingham Southern. ISU lead CSU-Northridge by one stroke and Birmingham Southern by four. ISU's final round placed them in 17th overall, five strokes behind Birmingham Southern. Kyle Prolo played well throughout the tournament posting a score of 74-74-75--223 over three rounds. Kyle finished the tournament in a tie for 23rd place. Dylan Meyer finished the tournament in 69th place with a score of 75-78-80--233. Ryan Nielson finished just one stroke behind Meyer in a tie for 70th and a score of 79-74-81--234. Tied with Nielson at 70th was Stevan Peters with a score of 78-73-83--234 over three rounds. Peters had the lowest scoring round of all the Bengals with his round of 73. KJ Weissenbuehler finished the tournament with rounds of 87-80-79--246 respectively and a finish of 85th. |
