Idaho State, 1995

Probably the most recognizable graduate of Idaho State University, Stacy Dragila continues to be an important part of the ISU Track and Field program, entering her sixth season as an assistant coach.

Dragila, the current world record holder in the pole vault, joined the ISU coaching staff six years ago after competing as a heptathlete for the school during her undergraduate work. During her ISU career, Stacy was the Big Sky runner-up in the heptathlon, while also setting five school and venue records and ranking among the top 10 in ISU history in 13 events.

Since January of 2000, Dragila has set or equaled the American and world records numerous times. In September of 2000, she won the first gold medal ever awarded in women’s pole vault at the Sydney Olympic Games. She currently owns outdoor World record in the pole vault with a mark of 15-9 1/4 respectively. Her best in the indoor pole vault (then a world record) is 15-5. Overall, Dragila has four of the top 10 outdoor marks and three of the top 10 indoor marks in women’s pole vault history.

She is also a member of the ISU Sports Hall of Fame and is one of two females in the ISU Ring of Honor.

A firm believer in giving back to the community, Dragila is involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southeast Idaho.

Dragila graduated from Idaho State in 1995 with a degree in physical education/health education, and is now pursuing a masters degree in health education. She resides in Pocatello with her husband, Brent.
