2005-06 Track: Competed in the long distances for the Bengals... Ran to an eighth place finish in the 3000-meters at the Big Sky Indoor Championships (2/25) in a time of 8:54.48... Had a season-best in the 3000-meters of 8:34.56 at the MSU Open (1/20) where he also picked up a first place finish in the event... Won the invitational section of the 3000-meters at the Mountain States Games (2/4) in 8:35.55... Took second at the Mountain States Games in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:03.71... Outdoors he ran only the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Robison Invitational (4/29) where he placed ninth and recorded a time of 9:56.87 in the event.

2005 Cross Country: Earned All-Conference Honors at the Big Sky Championships (10/29) after placing ninth overall and clocking a time of 25:39.40 on an 8-kilometer course... Placed fifth at the SUU, Westminster Dual (9/10)... Tied for third at the ISU Multi Dual (10/8) racing to a time of 19:53 on a 6-kilometer course.

2004-05 Track: Race primarily in the 3000-meter run indoors...Placed 14th at the BSC Championships (2/26)...Ran a season-best of 8:30.58 at the ISU Friday Night Dual (1/28) in the 3000-meters while also taking first place...Earned his only other indoor title at the Mountain States Games (2/5) in the 3000-meters...Competed in the 1-Mile run twice indoors with his highest placing being fifth at the Bobcat Duals (2/11) where he ran a 4:15.70...Ran the 5000-meter run twice indoors including one race being at the Big Sky Conference Championships where he placed 12th...Outdoors Nelson ran the 1500-meter run once at the ISU Springfest (4/30) and earned second place honors...Ran the 3000-meter steeplechase in a season-best time of 9:49.70 at the Spring Break Open (3/17)...Placed fifth at the Robison Invitational (4/23) where he ran a time of 15:22.00...Competed in the 10000-meter run at the BSC Outdoor Championships (5/14) where he placed seventh in a time of 33:51.65.

2004 Cross Country: Was ISU's top finisher in four races... Placed second at the ISU Invitational with a 6,000-meter time of 18:44... Also finished tied for second with teammates at the ISU-Wheeling Jesuit Dual (9/11) with a time of 27:55... Placed third at the Southern Utah Invitational (10/16), covering the 8-kilometer course in a time of 23:32.43... Placed 15th at the Big Sky Championships with a five-mile time of 24:58.

2003-04 Track: Competed in the distance events during both the indoor and outdoor seasons... Recorded a season-best indoor mark of 4:16.86 in the 1600-meter run at the Montana State Dual Invitational (2/13)... Placed fourth with a 1600-meter time of 4:17.18 at the Snake River Open (1/17)... Placed sixth in the 3,000-meter run at the Big Sky Indoor Championships with a season-best time of 8:33.56.

2003 Cross Country: Was one of ISU's top finishers in all six races during the season... Placed ninth at the ISU Opener (8/30) with a 6,000-meter time of 19:08... Placed seventh at the Montana State Invitational (9/20) with an 8-kilometer time of 26:51.05... Placed 12th at the Montana Invitational (10/4) with an 8-kilometer time of 26:07.4... Placed 26th at the Big Sky Championships, covering the 8-kilometer course in a time of 27:41... Placed 67th at the NCAA Regionals with a time of 33:25 over the 10-kilometer run.

2002-03 Track: Redshirted

2002 Cross Country: Redshirted due to a preseason injury.

High School: State champion in the 1600-meter and second in the 3200-meter for Colstrip High... Has bests of 15:30 in the three-mile, 9:36 in the 3200-meter, 4:23 in the 1600-meter and 1:58 in the 800-meter... Holds the school records in both the 1600 and 3200 as well... Was named Cross Country MVP in 1999, 2000 and 2001... He was an All-State cross country runner in 1999, 2000 and 2001... Served as team captain for the cross country team all four of his years... Was an all-conference selection in 2000, 2001 and 2002 in track and field... Helped Colstrip to the 2000, 2001 and 2002 Montana State track championships... An excellent student as well, posting a 4.0 GPA, was a member of the honor roll and the honor society... Was also an academic All-State honoree all four of his years at CHS.

Personal: Parents are Ken and Irene Nelson... Has a brother, Luke... Majoring in Biology at ISU.
