Pocatello, Idaho - Senior John Ricardi led the Bengals once again Saturday with a third-place finish against Southern Utah University on Idaho State's own Centennial Course. Ricardi finished the 6K course in a time of 18:52.72, less than a second behind runner-up Cameron Levins of SUU (18:51.91). As a team, the Idaho State men finished second with a team score of 42 while race champion SUU finished with a total of 23. Junior Ryan Davis finished sixth overall with a time of 19:19.50 while fellow junior Mike Tucker finished 10th, completing the course in a time of 19:48.29. Rounding out the top five runners for ISU were sophomore Keane Shuler (11th, 19:52.13) and junior Taylor Hansen (12th, 20:04.29). "We ran strong," ISU Head Coach Brian Janssen said. "Southern Utah is a really good team and I thought we had a good mental effort. I am really pleased with the performances. I thought Ricardi did a great job up front and that, as a team, we're definitely heading in the right direction." The cross country team will take the next week off before returning to action Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Bob Firman Invitational in Boise, Idaho. |
