Idaho State Men Earn Third-Place Finish At Utah Valley Invitational

Orem, UT --- The Idaho State men's cross country team turned in its strongest performance of the year, turning in three finishes inside the Top 22 en route to a third-place showing at the Utah Valley Invitational on Friday afternoon in Orem.

The men scored 58 points, finishing third behind hosts Utah Valley and a partial team from BYU.

Sophomore Ryan Davis continued to pace the squad, finishing the challenging 5K course in 16:32.50 to lock up 12th place overall. Teammate and classmate Zach Barrett, making his 2008 debut after recovering from an IT band injury, finished second for the Bengals in a time of 16:45.8. Freshman Logan Torgison, the Bengals' second-place finisher in the season's first three events, came in 5.2 seconds after Barrett crossed the finish line, warning him a 16:51.0 and 22nd place.

The rest of Idaho State's runners were Eric Strand (37th, 17:27.7), Aaron Wolfe (38th, 17:29.5), Chaz Anestos (41st, 17:51.1), Kyle Sauer (47th, 18:24.8) and Erik Solberg (51st, 19:19.7).

The men's and women's cross country teams are both in action on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Southern Utah Invitational in Cedar City, Utah.
