Bengals Finish in 4th place at the Big Sky Championship

Missoula, MT--The Idaho State Bengals men's cross country team took 4th place in the Big Sky Conference Championships with 118 points. The women's team tied for 7th place with 185 points. Saheed Khan and Gemma Maini finished in 8th place in their respective meets. The Championships were held at the University of Montana Golf Course.

Senior, Saheed Khan took 8th place to lead the Bengals with a time of 24:46.7, just 55.5 seconds behind the men's winner in the 8,000-meter race. Khan received All-Big Sky Conference Honors with his top-ten finish, his third of his career. In 2005, Khan took 6th place in the Big Sky Conference with a time of 25:18.6 in the 8,000 meter race. As a freshman, Khan took 9th place in the Big Sky Conference with a time of 24:40.

John Ricardi finished in 15th place with a time of 25:20.3. Mike Tucker completed the race in 26:08.7 to take 29th place. Tysun Rickards followed close behind Tucker to finish in 30th place with a time of 26:10.8. Sophomore, Taylor Hansen finished the 8,000-meter race in 26:22.8 to capture 39th place. Landen Teeter took 42nd place with a time of 26:32.2. Branden Teeter finished the race in 26:39.7 to capture 46th place. Freshman, Ryan Davis ran his first Big Sky Conference Championship in 27:32.7 taking 57th place.

Northern Arizona University swept first place as a team for the men with a score of 22. The Lumberjacks posted runners at the 1, 2, 4, 6 and 9 spots. Weber State University captured 2nd place as a team with a score of 55, posting runners at the 3, 10, 11, 14 and 17 spots. Montana State University took 3rd place with a score of 95. Northern Arizona's Lopez Lomong gained the first place victory at the Big Sky Conference with a time of 23:51.2. Freshman, David McNeill of Northern Arizona ran the 8,000 meter race in 24:04.3 to capture 2nd place. Senior, Seth Pilkington of Weber State took home a 3rd place victory with a time of 24:17.8

Sophomore, Gemma Maini paced herself well and had an excellent run. Maini captured 8th place to lead the Bengals with a time of 18:05.5, just 51.6 seconds behind the women's winner in the 5,000-meter race. Maini received All-Big Sky Conference Honors with her top-ten finish. With a heavy freshman team the Bengals had an excellent showing in the Championships meet. Freshman, Erica Wendt took 23rd place in her first Big Sky Conference Championship with a time of 18:59.9. Freshman, Haiden Siepert finished in 52nd place with a time of 20:13.3. Kerynn Davis finished in 20:13.6, just point three seconds behind Siepert. Freshman, Chealsea Kropushek took 55th place with a time of 20:40.0. Freshman, Holly Hansen ran the 5,000-meter race in 21:31.2 taking 63rd place. Freshman, Candida Butler captured 64th place with a time of 21:35.5.

Northern Arizona University captured first place as a team for the women with a score of 33. The Lumberjacks posted runners at the 2, 4, 7, 9 and 11 spots. Weber State took 2nd place as a team with a score of 51, posting runners at the 1, 3, 13, 15 and 19 spots. The University of Montana took 3rd place with a score of 89. Senior, Sariah Long of Weber State captured the 1st place victory for the women with a time of 17:13.9. Junior, Morgan Haws of Weber State took 3rd place with a time of 17:45.2. Northern Arizona's Lesley Van Miert captured 2nd place with a time of 17:38.2.
