Idaho State WNIT First Round Notes
Pocatello, ID --- The stage is set for Idaho State's third WNIT appearance, as the Bengals (20-9) will travel to face the Boise State Broncos (23-7) on Thursday night at 7:00 pm in the opening round, with the winner advancing to face Texas Christian (20-11) over the weekend. The game will not be on TV, but KISU will have the broadcast with Jerry Miller calling the action. The Bengals are in the postseason for the fourth time in the last five seasons, with WNIT appearances in 2004 and 2006, and a trip to the NCAAs in 2007. The Bengals also made the NCAA Tournament in 2001. ISU will be looking for their first ever postseason win, and they will try against a familiar foe in the Broncos. Both Idaho State and Boise State finished second in their respective conferences, and both lost in their respective semifinals, but since the top seeds won the tournaments (Montana in the Big Sky and Fresno State in the Western Athletic), both second place teams earned automatic berths in the WNIT.
