Bengals Back in the Swing of Competition



2008 ISU Men's Golf Team

Pocatello, ID--The ISU men's golf team will get back into the swing of competition with their first tournament of the spring season. The Bengals will be competing in the Fourth Annual Southern Utah University Pat Hicks Invitational on Feb. 11 and 12.

The tournament will be played at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah, utilizing the Point and Blackrock nines. The par will be 72 with 6,758 yards. The 36-hole tournament will consist of 18 holes on Monday, Feb. 11 and 18 holes on Tuesday, Feb. 12. A practice round will occur on Sunday.

Last year the Bengals finished 18th in the tournament with 39-over 615. Kyle Prolo led the Bengals last year with 1-over 145 to tie for 33rd place. Southern Utah is the defending champion after finishing first in the 18-team field last year with a score of 14-under par 562. SUU also finished in first in 2006 at 13-under 563. Denver won the first tournament at 14-under 562.

Eighteen teams are scheduled to compete this year, including: Utah State, Utah, Utah Valley State, Weber State, Rice, Dixie State, Oral Roberts, Centenary, UMKC, Campbell, Kentucky, Denver, Louisiana-Monroe, UC Riverside, Grand Canyon, Southern Utah and Idaho State.
