Pocatello, ID--The Idaho State women's golf team showed improvement in the Cal Poly Invitational at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course, their final tournament of the fall season. The Bengals captured 14th place in the Lamkin Cup/Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational. Senior Hannah Venn led the Bengals tying for 11th place. Venn had a two-round score of 151(+7) achieving her career best two-round score. She shot a 76(+4) in the first round and a 75(+3) in the second round of the tournament. Venn's second round score was her best score of the fall season. Venn's 151 tied for the third-best 36-hole score in school history. The Twin Falls native shares the record with Eileen Spindler who shot a 151 in the Bronco Fall Classic in 2002. She greatly improved on her previous record of career best two round score of 157. Venn had an excellent fall season with an 84.22 average. She had one top 20 finish in the fall season, finishing 11th at the Lamkin Cup/Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational. Venn has achieved four career top 20 finishes as a Bengal. She leads her team with a career average of 83.5 for 2004-07, placing her in 10th place in the records for best career average. |
