March 17, 2009
Pocatello, ID-Idaho State soccer will be hosting its first home spring competition against Utah State at Davis Field on Friday, March 20 at 3 p.m. In their last meeting Idaho State opened its 2008 season with a 2-1 overtime win over the Aggies. The Bengal squad has already kicked off spring competition with a bang as Idaho State held BYU to a scoreless tie in February in Provo, Utah. "Our spring season is underway and we are really looking forward to our upcoming competitions. We have been fortunate to have a full squad this spring (18) and the girls have been working hard and are ready to compete against some regional competition," said head coach Allison Gibson. "It would be great if we could get some good ol' ISU support for the home games, I know the girls and the staff always look forward to the wonderful support from our fans." After the Bengals host Utah State on Friday the team will travel to the Boise area for the Northwest College Classic hosted by the Les Bois Sports Association. Idaho State will compete against Boise State and the University of Alberta on Saturday, March 21 at the Hubbard Fields in Meridian. The Bengals will play Boise State at 9:30 a.m. and Alberta at 1:30 p.m. Idaho State will wrap up its spring competition by hosting Boise State on April 18th at Davis Field with kick-off at 11 a.m. Directly following the game with the Broncos, Idaho State will be hosting their annual Alumni Game at 2 p.m. Last year 25 alumni players came out to the pitch and the Bengals expect the same turnout this season. If you were a member of the Idaho State soccer program and would like to compete in the alumni games please email assistant coach Hideki Nakada at nakahide@isu.edu or call him at (208) 282-4263.
