Boise, ID--The Idaho State track and field team had an impressive first day at the All-Idaho Collegiate Cup. Four Bengals end the day with first place victories and numerous Bengals acquired qualifying times into the finals in their track performances.

Junior Jessica Johnson captured the second best All-Time Top-Ten Performers record with her second place qualifying run in the 100-meter dash. The Record holder of the 100-meter dash was set by Brittany Rozier with a time of 11.72 during the 2007 Outdoor Big Sky Conference. Johnson also qualified with a time of 25.96 for the 200-meter dash.

Merkley qualified for 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.0 and in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.62. She finished ahead of her competitors in both preliminary runs. Merkley adds her name to the schools All-Time Top-Ten Performances list in the fourth spot with her 100-meter hurdle time. She also took second place in the long jump with a distance of 17-08.25.

Senior Lois Ricardi took first place with a time of 11:03.00 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase giving her the third best All-Time Top-Ten Performances record; her fourth top-ten performance. Erica Wendt, a freshman, captured the 6th best All-Time Top-Ten Performers record at Idaho State with her finish in the steeplechase.

Kasie Scott, a junior, vaulted her way into first place with a mark of 11-03.75 while senior Erin Bell jumped her way into first place with a distance of 17-10.25 in the long jump. Carrie Talbot, a sophomore, took two second place finishes with her 41-05.00 distance in the shot put and her 150-03 mark in the hammer throw.

For the men, freshman Sergio Jones captured first place with a distance of 23-02.75 in the long jump. Jones also finished first in the 200-meter dash preliminaries with his qualifying time of 21.97. Darin Williams, a junior, qualified for the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. Williams ran a time of 22.74 in the 200-meter dash for a 4th place finish in the preliminaries and he ran a time of 51.03 in the 400-meter dash for a second place finish in the preliminaries. The Bengals captured a second place finish from junior Brad Silvester when he threw a distance of 46-06.00 in the shot put. Senior Tysun Rickards took fourth place in the finals with a time of 4:04.79 in the 1,500-meter run.

Idaho State will continue competition Saturday, April 5th at the Bronco Stadium.
