Bengals Have Excellent Performances at the Wildcat Open

Ogden, UT--The Idaho State track and field team had an excellent performance at Javier's Wildcat Open at the Stewart Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Bengals captured seven first place finishes, three of which Junior Cassie Merkley achieved in the 100-meter hurdles, the high jump and the javelin throw.

For the women, Merkley took first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.17 and she took first place in the high jump with a height of 5-07.00. Merkley tied Nicole Dudek and Jackie Poulson in the ten-best high jump performance for Idaho State. She also threw a distance of javelin throw with a distance of 149-03 to take first place.

Freshman Kylee Gleason took first place in the pole vault with a height of 11-09.00. Sophomore Sydney Wendt took first place in the triple jump with a distance of 37-08.75. Wendt also took second place in the high jump with a height of 5-05.00. Jessica Bobert, a senior, took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.68.

For the men, Sergio Jones took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.27. Jones also took second place in the long jump with a distance of 22-07.25. Freshman Raegan Ward took 2nd place in the triple jump with a distance of 44-02.50. Freshman Eric Strand took 3rd place in the 800-meter run.
