Complete Day Three Robison Results
Provo, UT--The Idaho State Track and Field team began their first day of competition for the running and field events of the BYU Clarence Robison Invitational Friday morning. The Bengals met nine Big Sky qualifying standards and one NCAA qualifying mark from Junior Cassie Merkley. Senior Lois Ricardi and Freshman Kylee Gleason were the only Bengals to capture first in their respective events. Merkley captured her fourth NCAA qualifying standard in the outdoor season with her 152-02 throw in the Javelin which gave her second place in the event and marked her best javelin throw performance in her career. Merkley's previous best was a distance of 149-03 at the Wildcat Open. She also captured first place in the preliminary 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.03 which gave Merkley her fifth top-ten performance record at Idaho State. Ricardi had an excellent time of 17:28.14 in the 5,000-meter run which gave her the fifth best top-ten performance in school history. The excellent performance gave Ricardi her first top-ten performance in the 5,000-meter run for the outdoor season in her career as a Bengal. She also holds the fourth best performance in the 5,000-meter run for the indoor season. Gleason took first place in the pole vault with a height of 11-05.75, missing the Big Sky qualifying mark by one-fourth of an inch. Junior Trinelle McKinley also had an excellent performance when she qualified for the 400-meter dash with her time of 56.67 to take second in the preliminary run. In the 800-meter open for the men, three freshmen Bengals teamed together by running in a group to capture fourth, fifth and sixth place. Eric Strand led the pack with a time of 1:55.47, Zach Barrett ran a time of 1:55.58 and Clayton Kohler finished the line in 1:55.83. Senior Joe Silvers vaulted a height of 15-01.00 to take third place while Zach Stringham, a freshman, vaulted a height of 14-07.25 to capture fifth place. Jacob Keller, a junior took fourth place in the javelin throw with a distance of 158-09. The running and field competitions will continue on Saturday morning at the Clarence Robison track. |
