Bozeman, MT - The Idaho State Track and Field team traveled to Montana State to compete in the MSU Open Friday Jan. 19. The MSU Open is only the second meet of the indoor season for Idaho State. Between both the men and women's teams six first place finishes were posted. Leading the way for the men were Dean Connett in the 800 meter, Jacob Keller in the high jump, and the men's 4x400 team with first place finishes. Connett finished the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.59. He finished a couple places ahead of teammate Kol Henrikson who finished in third with a time of 1:56.02. The ISU 4x400 team finished with a time of 3:19.16 and Jacob Keller jumped 6'8". In the 3000 meter run Matt Nelson led ISU runners with a third place finish and a time of 8:57.72. Lucas Pope vaulted to a second place finish in the pole vault with a vault of 15'2.75". John Danielson finished the weight throw in third place with a throw of 53'00.75". Jacob Keller added a third place finish in the triple jump to his first in the high jump with a jump of 44'9". For the women Cassie Merkley and Sydney Wendt led the way with first place finishes in the individual events. The women's 4x400 relay team also walked away with a first place finish. Merkley took first place in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.36 seconds while Wendt finished first in the high jump with a jump of 5'4.25". The women fared well in the 200 meter dash with Audra Smith taking second with a time of 25.81, Trinelle McKinley taking third with a time of 26.08, and Biba Jovanovska finishing in fifth with a time of 26.37. McKinley finished well in the 400 meter dash as well finishing in second place with a time of 58.19. In the 1-mile run Gemma Maini finished in second place with a time of 5:16.16. In another mid-distance run Melissa McLimore took third place in the 800 meter run. ISU took both second place and third in the pole vault with Kasie Scott vaulting to second place with a jump of 12'1.5" and Katie Williams following in third with a vault of 11'5.25". ISU will next compete February 2 at home in the Holt Arena in the ISU Duel Series #2. |
