PRESEASON POLES
The Bengals finished the indoor season with fourth place finishes for the men and women at the Big Sky Conference. Going into the outdoor season the Bengals look forward to solid finishes which are predicted in the preseason polls. In the men's poll, Idaho State came in fourth place with 38 points and in the women's poll, the Bengals were picked to finish fourth with 46 total points.
CSUN DEC/HEP COMPETITIORS
The Bengals have sent nine women to compete in the heptathlon at the CSUN Dec/Hep event also known as the Spring Break Open Multi-Events held at the new track and field facility at Cal State Northridge. Competitors include Pentathlon Big Sky Champion Cassie Merkley who earned three titles at the Indoor Conference which gave her 71 career indoor championship points, the fourth-most in conference history, and easily pushed her to be the all-time points leader for Idaho State. Joining Merkley is the second place Pentathlon Indoor Champion Sydney Wendt. Four Bengal men were sent to compete in the Decathlon including the 2008 Big Sky Indoor Heptathlon Champion Brad Silvester, Sophomore Brandon Graef, and Freshmen Trevor White and Brandon McNew.
CSUN DEC/HEP SCHEDULE
The Heptathlon is split into two sections for the Spring Break Open. Section A of the Heptathlon will begin at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 20th while Section B will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. A single section of the Decathlon will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Events in both the Heptathlon and the Decathlon will continue through Friday, March 21st.
