2003: Led the Big Sky Conference in kills per game with 4.59... Had a conference season-best and career-high 28 kills in a single match against Portland State (10/31)... Finished second in the Big Sky with 3.67 digs per contest... Was fourth in the league with 0.34 service aces a contest... Received Big Sky Player of the Week honors twice... Was named to the Big Sky All-Tournament Team after averaging 3.67 kills and a conference tournament-best 5.83 digs... Tied for the second-most double-doubles in the conference with 17... Had a career-high 23 digs twice against Fordham (9/6) and Northern Arizona (11/14)... Tallied 20 or more kills in 11 matches which led the Big Sky... Recorded 1216 total attacks--the fourth-best performance in ISU history... Tallied five blocks three times in 2003... 2002: Played in all 27 matches, posting at least 10 kills in 20 of those matches... Had her second highest kill total of the season with 20 against Montana (10/5)... Started off the Big Sky season strong with 10 straight double-digit kill matches, including two triple-doubles... Was named Big Sky Player of the Week for her play against Montana and Montana State, against whom she posted her first career triple-double with 12 kills, 18 assists and 14 digs (10/4)... Against Portland State she had her second triple-double with 14 kills, 12 assists and a season-high 18 digs (10/10)... Also had a season-high six blocks against PSU... Finished the season with five straight double-digit kill matches, including two double-doubles... Had a season-high three aces against Columbia (9/14) and Northern Arizona (10/25)... Had her third triple-double of the season against Montana with 10 kills, 22 assists and 12 digs (11/1).
2001: Led the Big Sky in aces in conference matches with 25 (0.51 per game) and was third in all-game aces with 34 (0.37 per), the most among ISU players... Tied the school record in single match aces with seven against Eastern Washington, the second-most in the conference... Boasted an eight-match streak of aces including the Eastern Washington match... Tallied five double-doubles on the season, eight double-figure dig efforts and 10 double-figure kill efforts in 28 matches of action... Was second on the ISU squad in digs per game with a 2.34 average and third on the team in kills per game with 2.30 per... Totalled 214 kills on 602 total attacks, 218 digs, 34 aces and 35 blocks in 93 games... Was among the conference top 10 in single match hitting percentage (7th) with a .571 effort at Portland State... Tallied the most single match digs among Bengals with a 19-dig performance at Weber State. High School: A three-year letterwinner in volleyball and softball at Littlerock... Was voted First-Team All-Conference for volleyball in 1999 and helped lead her team to the 2000 CIF Southern Section playoffs... Also competed in the Big League World Series Finals in softball... Played club volleyball for Sports Shack, which won the 1999 Volleyball Festival and was runner-up in 2000. Personal: Parents are Valerie and Andrew Gorny... Has a brother, Chris who played on BYU's 2001 NCAA Champion squad... A Mass Communications major at ISU. Head Coach Mike Welch on Gorny: "Ali served notice last fall as she came back from summer as one of the top dominant forces in the Big Sky. She did it all, from have amazing kill totals, to making the big time digs. Ali has been the `go to' player for so many years, she is well prepared for the big matches. She has worked hard this past spring to open up her options hitting, and will be a dynamic player this season. Ali likes the big time play, and we look for her to have many during her senior season."
