2006: Saw time in 28 matches and 93 games... Led the Bengals in attack percentage with a .284 mark on the season... Ranked second on the team in kills per game at 2.63... Ranked third on the team with 245 total kills on the season... Also ranked second on the team in blocks on the season with 65... Set four career match highs in 2006, including kills, attack percentage, assists, and digs... Set a career high with 19 kills against Utah State (11/7) in the team's season finale... Also recorded a career attack percentage mark of .632 against Indiana State (8/26)... Tallied a career-high three assists against Montana (10/20) and reached a career high with three digs against Utah State (11/7)... Notched 10 or more kills in 10 matches... Recorded a .300 attack percentage or better in 10 matches... 2005: Was ISU's top blocker during the 2005 season, recording a team-best 90 blocks in 94 games... Had five or more blocks in nine matches, including a season-high 10 against Northern Arizona (11/5)... Also ranked fourth on the team in kills, averaging 1.54 a game... Recorded a season-best 12 kills with just one error on 20 attacks for a .550 hitting percentage at Denver (9/10)... Also reached double-digit kills with 11 against Montana State (11/17) in the first round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament.

High School: Was a standout player for Emmett High School... Received All-Conference honors for three consecutive years at Emmett... Was named Player of the Year in 2005... Named to the Idaho All-State team in 2003... Tabbed Athlete of the Week three times during her high school career... Helped team to a district championship in both 2003 and 2004... Placed fourth at the state tournament in 2003... Also successful in the classroom, was placed on the honor roll each year of high school... Graduated in the top eight percent of her class... Received Idaho Top Scholar award.

Personal: Parents are Dennis and Laraine Gurney... Has two brothers and a sister, Jeremy, Jennifer, and Jake... Studying nursing at ISU.

Being sidelined with her late season injury proved how valuable she is with our team. Now that Jess is an upperclassman, I believe she will be one of the dominant middle blockers in the Big Sky. She has all the skills and complete game that will allow her to rise to the top this season."
