Idaho State Releases 2009 Volleyball Schedule

2009 Idaho State Volleyball Schedule

Pocatello, ID--Idaho State University head volleyball coach Chad Teichert has announced the 2009 volleyball schedule, which features 28 games, including 11 home games and three tournament appearances including the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic, ASU Sheraton Classic and Wolverine Invitational. Teichert kicks-off his second season at Idaho State on Friday, August 28 with a match against South Dakota State in the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic hosted by Wyoming at 12 p.m.

Idaho State will hit the road hard as they did last season before conference play begins starting the year with nine non-conference and 11 total road games before its first home contest against 2008 Big Sky Conference regular season champions Eastern Washington on Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m. Idaho State will then host 2009 Big Sky Conference tournament champions on Saturday, September 26 at 7 p.m. Last season the Bengals defended their home court posting a 7-4 record.

The Bengals will begin the season with matches against South Dakota State and Rutgers at the Wyoming Classic, both teams ISU will be playing for the first time. In fact, ISU will be playing four universities for the first time over their first five matches including South Dakota State, Rutgers, UTEP, and Charleston Southern. After finishing the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic the Bengals will head to Arizona State for the ASU Sheraton Classic.

Idaho State will finish its non-conference games in Utah playing a match against Utah State before heading to Orem to compete in the Wolverine Invitational hosted by Utah Valley. In the tournament the Bengals will also get to face-off against USC.

ISU opens Big Sky play at Northern Arizona on Thursday, September 17 at 7 p.m. and will host its first home game and conference game on Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m. against Eastern Washington. The Bengals will host all three of their non-conference games during the Big Sky season hosting Boise State, Seattle and Utah Valley.

Idaho State will have three matches in a single week as the Bengals play Weber State on the road at 7 p.m. before its Friday and Saturday matches against Seattle and Utah Valley. The Bengals will end the season hosting three home games against Weber State, Montana State and Montana. Idaho State's senior night and final home game will be against Montana on Saturday, November 21 at 7 p.m.

In his first season with the Bengals, Teichert led Idaho State to a 10-20 overall season and posted a 5-11 record in conference play. ISU volleyball improved from the previous season marking the Bengals first 10 win season since 2006.
