Bengal Volleyball Diary - Entry #7

Entry #7

Sept. 25, 2006

Well, it was another busy week for the Bengal volleyball team. We started out our week the same as every week with a few practices. We then traveled to Montana where we played on Thursday and Montana State on Saturday. Over all we had a good week.

We played at Montana on Thursday. It was a tough match for us. Our passing was really on, but our hitting was somewhat of a struggle. Emily Waldron had an outstanding game. We ended up losing three games in a row to drop the match. This was not the Bengal volleyball team we are used to. We just had an off night. This game lit a fire under us to go into Saturday.

We played Montana State on Saturday and won in four games. We played really well. Excluding the first game, our passing was great and after that everything was up hill. Our hitters did a great job all night of finding holes. Ours setters did a great job of helping hitters to have an open net. Nikki Havens led out team with hitting. She only had three errors on the night. It was a great confidence builder for our team coming into another big week in the Big Sky.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT This week's player spot light is #4 Jessica Gurney. Jessica is a sophomore middle blocker. She is from Emmett, Idaho. She was very involved in her high school's volleyball and basketball programs. She is studying nursing and spends time in the summer being a CNA. Jessica loves to be outdoors whether it's camping, fishing, or just spending time with her family, Jessica is happy to be outside. She is the youngest in her family. She loves to be with her family and spend time playing with her nieces and nephews. Jessica brings a special attitude to the court. She is always smiling and her other teammates feed off of her contagious grin. Jessica is a great asset to ISU volleyball.

We look forward to your support at our up coming games this week. We will be playing Portland State on Thursday followed by Weber State on Friday. See you at Reed Gym where Bengal volleyball is ROCKIN!
