Bengal Diary - Entry #9

Entry #9

Oct. 10, 2005

This last weekend was a hard one for all of us. We had two matches that did not go our way, and although the attitude was awesome the result was not what anyone had hoped for. After losing to both NAU and Sac State we went to watch some elite level volleyball players do what they do best. We watched a game between the second and third placed teams in the nation. It was inspiring to see the discipline that these women had, and the way that they presented themselves in the gym. Most of the athletes that I know will never play for a second or third nationally-ranked team, but all of the athletes that I know aspire to do the best of their ability at every moment possible.

Doing your best as an athlete is a hard thing. Because your best may change from day to day, hour to hour, min to min. this team knows what that feels like. And I can truly say that this weekend was about that for me and my fellow athletes. I feel that everyone gave what they had to give at each moment. Even those who could not step on the floor because of injuries(Zoe Beltz and Felice Yocopis) did what they could to help. Zoe talked so much I thought she would for sure lose her voice by the end of the trip and Felice did all she could to make sure that she will be back as soon as she can possibly be.

We will continue to do our best, and the good thing about that is... When your working your hardest all the time, your getting better all the time.

See you at the Montana games this weekend. We'll be there.

You bring the noise we'll bring the fire. Nikki Havens
