Thursday October 18, 2007 at 7:00pm vs. Eastern Washington University The Idaho State Volleyball Team will be participating in a national program called "Dig for the Cure". It is a volleyball fundraising event for the Susan Komen Foundation, as October is breast cancer awareness month. Head Coach Mike Welch had this to say. "Most of us have had our lives touched by the fight against breast cancer. We have a very caring group of ladies on our ISU Volleyball Team who will have the opportunity to take on and help with something much greater than a volleyball. A very dear friend showed me that it is not the destination, but our journey that should be cherished. Sometimes the destination is out of our control, but the path we take and the perspectives we choose will always be ours." Our match on October 18, 2007 vs. Eastern Washington University will be dedicated to making the Dig for the Cure Night. ISU Volleyball coaches and players will be securing pledges for the Dig for the Cure night. Donors can pledge either a flat amount, or a specific amount per ISU team dig ($1 x 60 team digs = $60 donation). Those interested in making a pledge may contact Head Coach Mike Welch at the Volleyball Office 208-282-4065 or e-mail welcmike@isu.edu. E-mails should include name, address, phone number, and pledge amount. Idaho State Volleyball Dig for the Cure pink and white shirts will be available for purchase for $15 during home volleyball matches Oct. 15 vs. Boise State, Oct. 18 vs. Eastern Washington and Oct. 20 vs. Portland State. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation as 4 local businesses have donated the cost of the shirts. Checks should be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation, and sent to: Mike Welch, Head Volleyball Coach Monday Oct. 15 will kick off the week. Head Coach Mike Welch will present the Dig for the Cure Night to the Bengal Nation at the weekly press conference. Dig for the Cure shirts will be available in the foyer during Idaho State home matches that week, starting with hosting Boise State in Reed Gym on October 15 at 7pm. |
