Nov. 6, 2006 It's the end of Big Sky Conference regular season play for our volleyball team here at Idaho State. Our last two regular season games were played this week. We are not looking at our last home game of the season this upcoming week on Tuesday against Utah State as our final match of the year. We will be training hard this next week in order to prepare for the Big Sky tournament. We played this week against Weber State on Thursday at Weber State. We came out strong in the first game and player really well, but we did not keep that same intensity in the next three games. We ended up losing the match 3 to 1. We then traveled to Sacramento. We played Sacramento State on Saturday. We lost the match in three. We played hard but we could not come out on top. We had a good effort and worked hard. We only succeeded in certain aspects of the game. Our blocking was significantly bettering our game against Sacramento. Our blocking was led by Ashlyn McDowell and Jessica Gurney, and they were helped by other players Katie Hurst, Nikki Havens, and Karli Maughan. We have a conference bye week this upcoming week. We will be playing host to Utah State on Tuesday night. It will be our final home game of the season. This will be senior night for our three seniors. We will be honoring Bri Beal, Nikki Havens, and Karli Maughan. We are looking forward to playing in front of our hometown crowd for the final time this season. Right now we are sitting in sixth place. The outcomes of other teams games this week will make the difference of our team going to the Big Sky tournament or not. We are going to train hard this upcoming week and hope that things turn out the way we would like. |
