Complete Autumn Classic Women's Results Provo, UT -- The Idaho State women's cross country team took fifth place in its first road meet of the season at the Autumn Classic hosted by Brigham Young University in Provo. Sophomore Erica Wendt, who finished third at Idaho State's first dual on Aug. 30, took 14th place Saturday, completing the 5K course in 20:12.1. Wendt's time was four seconds faster than junior teammate Gemma Maini, who finished the course in 20:16.6 to finish 18th. Maini won the ISU Dual on Aug. 30. Freshman Cydney Jacobsen finished 25th with a time of 20:30.8, junior Kerynn Davis ran a 20:48.5 to finish 36th and freshman Kris Thomasberg finished 57th in 21:32.1. ISU's other runners were Parris Hodges (21:33.6, 58th), Mandi Janowitz (21:50.8, 60th), Bradi Hutchison (21:55.2, 64th), Chealse Kropushek-Miller (21:55.7, 65th), and Candida Butler-Rowan (23:55.9, 83rd). During the last meet, Davis finished third among ISU runners and Jacobsen finished fourth. "The good sign for us is that 1 and 2 flipped and 3 and 4 flipped, so that shows that we have a little bit of depth," head coach Brian Janssen said. "Our freshmen are pretty talented, so we expected them to do pretty well this early." The Bengals finished with 118 points, well ahead of sixth-place Utah Valley and 41 points behind fourth-place Utah State. BYU won the meet with 35 points, followed by Nebraska in second with 51. Nebraska's Lara Crofford finished first individually with a time of 19:10.9. The Bengals get a week off before competing in the Bob Firman Classic on Sept. 20 in Boise. |
