Boise, Idaho - It was a different year but the same results for the Idaho State women's cross country team Saturday as it finished second at the Bob Firman Invitational for the second year in a row. The Bengals finished the 5K race with a team score of 44, just 16 points behind No. 25 Brigham Young University (28).

Idaho State had three runners place in the top 10 including Senior Gemma Maini who finished third to lead the Bengals. She was followed by junior Erica Wendt-Richardson who finished second for the Bengals and fifth overall. Senior Kerynn Davis finished third for ISU and ninth overall.

Rounding out the top five for Idaho State was sophomore Braid Hutchison (12th) and freshman Chloe Palakovich (24th).

"The women had a very strong performance today," Idaho State Head Coach Brian Janssen said. "BYU is a top 25 team and pretty tough. I thought the women ran really well and second place is what were expecting going into today's race, so we certainly met our goal."

On the team side, Boise State finished third with 86 points followed by Northwest Nazarene with 100. The University of Utah finished fifth with 101 and Central Washington finished sixth with 171. Brigham Young's Katy Andrews won the race.

No final times are available for the women's race at this time.

Idaho State will return to action at the Southern Utah Invitational in Cedar City, Utah Saturday, Oct. 10.
