Bengals Sweep ISU Dual Meet with 1st Place Victories

Pocatello, ID--Idaho State men and women's cross country teams take 1st place in Idaho State Dual Meet at the centennial course Saturday morning. The Bengals began the meet in a heavy and unexpected snow storm that dropped six inches on the course. The men and women's teams also took 1st place in their respective meets.

The ISU men took 1st place in the competition with 23 points. The extreme snowfall could hardly slow senior, Saheed Khan. He ran a mere 16 seconds behind his previous centennial course run of the season against Southern Utah University. Khan took his first 1st place victory for the season in the men's 6-kilometer run with a time of 20:06. John Ricardi finished impressively with a time of 20:10 for a 2nd place victory, his first of the season. Landen Teeter took 4th place with a time of 21:10. Tysun Rickards finished in 5th place with a time of 21:22. Mike Tucker took 11th place with a 21:36 finish. Ryan Davis ran the 6-kilometer course in 21:49 to finish in 13th place. Zach Barrett took 14th place for the Bengals with a time of 21:54. Eric Strand finished in 23rd place with a time of 23:29. Ryan Hansen took 24th place with a time of 24:13. Branden Teeter and Aaron Wolfe did not start.

The ISU women took 1st place with a point victory. ISU finished with a score of 28 points to defeat Albertson College that finished with 29 points. Sophomore, Gemma Maini took 1st place in the ISU Dual Meet with a 17:16 finish in the 4-kilometer race. Freshman, Erica Wendt took 3rd place with an 18:07 finish. Kerynn Davis ran the 4-kilometer race in 18:56 for a 6th place finish. Haiden Siepert finished with a time of 19:14 taking 8th place. Candida Bulter finished in 14th place with a time of 20:18. Senior, Jessica Bobert finished in 20:27 taking 15th place. Mandi Janowitz ran for ISU with a 21:24 time to take 18th place. April Jaynes finished with a time of 22:27 for 23rd place. Chealse Kropushek who was running unattached did not start and Chelsea McEwen did not start.

Scorers for the ISU men's team were Saheed Khan, 1st (20:06), John Ricardi, 2nd (20:10), Landen Teeter, 4th (21:10), Tysun Rickards, 5th (21:22), Mike Tucker, 11th (21:36), Ryan Davis, 13th (21:49) and Zach Barrett, 14th (21:54). Scorers for the women's team were Gemma Maini, 1st (17:16), Erica Wendt, 3rd (18:07), Kerynn Davis, 6th (18:56), Haiden Siepert, 8th (19:14), Candida Butler, 14th (20:18), Jessica Bobert, 15th (20:27), Mandi Janowitz, 18th (21:24).
